Happy Thursday!

Today is extra special because my sister is coming to town! She is visiting for a long weekend from San Francisco, and I cannot wait for some fun, girl time. I definitely took it for granted when my sister and I lived in the same city and we would see one another all the time. Now, thousands of miles apart from any of my family, I cherish the time when we get to visit each other and spend time with one another.

Although the forecast is calling for rain (again!!!), I have some fun plans in store for us. one of which includes seeing Billy Joel in concert. Yes, the piano man himself! Eeek, so excited! My sister and I have gone to so many fun concerts throughout the years, ranging from Hootie and the Blowfish (remember them?), to Britney Spears, Cher, Bette Midler and Elton John. I think for a year we were in Vegas every other month seeing whichever big-name headliner was performing.

I always love dressing up for any concert I go to in something inspired by the performer or something inspired by what I have seen them wear. Although today's outfit is probably not one I would wear to a concert, what I do like about it is that it is a little unexpected. From the top up it seems a bit 'buttoned up,' while the belt and the skirt on the bottom are a lot more fun. Put them together, and you have an eye-catching outfit. I love this Diane von Furstenberg cropped sweater. It is made of cashmere, so it is super soft, and the animal appliques are made out of leather, but made to look like cork. This skirt I found two years ago at the Nutcracker Market, and bought it for $18!

The Nutcracker Market is a shopping extravaganza that benefits the ballet here in Houston. It takes place during the middle of November, right before the holiday season, and features well over 250 merchants selling items ranging from Christmas decor, to food, clothing, jewelry and of course, Western apparel. If you're in the Houston area, I definitely suggesting rounding up your girlfriends and enjoying a fun, albeit chaotic, day of shopping for a good cause! You just never know what you may find!
