Lavender & Lace

Dress  | Sandals| Clutch (similar style here & here)  | Sunglasses | Earrings

Call me generic, but there isn't anything I love more than wearing floral print in the Spring. The seasons are transitioning, flowers are blooming, and the weather is great, so it just feels natural. And, if you follow me on Instagram and Facebook, you know I wore this outfit yesterday to the Heroes & Handbags event, just styled a bit differently. Be sure to check it out!

This dress is a fresh take on the iconic print. The midi length is modern and on trend, and the sheer overlay, lace and bell sleeves add subdued glamour, and girly charm. It is under $85 and comes in this lavender color, and baby blue, as well.

My tassel earrings are also perfect for the spring/summer season. They come in every color of the rainbow (which you can shop here), and add flair to any outfit. I also am obsessed with these, and this pair will be going to Vegas with me.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Dress (similar style with lace here) | Heels (similar style) | Clutch - available at the Heroes & Handbags event this Thursday! | Sunglasses (less expensive version here) | Necklace ℅ | Earrings

Welcome to a new week, my friends! Can you believe that next week is the start of May? Summer is already here!

We had the best weather this past weekend. Seriously, I think it was the most beautiful it's been all year - 70-80 degrees, no humidity and perfect sunshine! We spent it grilling, biking, walking little Miss Safari, hanging out on our roof deck, reading, and squeezed in some time to stop by a friend's art show, and saw Beauty and the Beast, as well (finally)!

Monday started out busy as ever (doesn't it always), as I am gearing up for a big week ahead! Did I mention I head to Vegas on Friday to see Backstreet Boys!!!!!!!!!! Oh, yeah!!! I cannot wait to sing along to every song and pretend it's the 90's again! But before I do that, I have a big event that I've been involved with the past several months that I'd love to share with you.

The annual Heroes & Handbags event that benefits the Heroes for Children organization, is taking place this Thursday, April 27th. The luncheon features designer and one-of-a-kind bags that are up for auction, all benefiting an amazing cause. One of those bags happens to be this gorgeous Anya Hindmarch rainbow clutch that I am carrying. Isn't it fabulous?

'Heroes for Children advocates for and provides financial and social assistance to families with children (0-22 years of age) battling cancer. A childhood cancer diagnosis takes a financial and emotional toll on the entire family. Heroes for Children is committed to alleviating the stress of these families, whether is it through the payment of electric bills or mortgages, or through the numerous social events hosted each year. We have helped over 4,500 families in Texas and provided over $5.5 million in program services. 79% of our expenses is spent on programming and because of that, Heroes for Children enables families to focus on the most important part of treatment—the child.'

Cancer is a cause near to my heart, so I was elated to get involved on a greater scale this year (in the past I have only attended the event). Not only am I on the committee, but I am also the Handbag Solicitation co-chair for the event, which is celebrating is 11th year!

There is still time to snag a ticket and grab your girlfriends for what's bound to be a great event. I mean, who doesn't like shopping for a cause (just don't tell your husbands)! Did I mention there'll be bags by Celine, Prada, Elaine Turner, Miles David, and Jimmy Choo, just to name a few?! Hope to see you there!

Polka Dot Bell Sleeve Dress

Dress (sold out, similar style - only $10!!!) | Bag (more affordable version here and here) | Heels | Sunglasses | Cuff | Earrings | Lipstick

Happy Friday, friends!

Sorry I've been a bit behind with outfit posts this week. We've had spotty weather and have gotten rain every day that my photog and I had photos scheduled! April showers bring May flowers though, right? Thankfully she and I were able to shoot some super fun looks this morning, so be sure to stay tuned! Big props to Adam for swooping in and saving the day, and taking pictures of me in this cute dress!

This dress has singing the lyrics to Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini on repeat (and made me realize how bad I need a tan!!!). I don't know what it is about polka dots that makes me so nostalgic and reminiscent of my childhood. It's one of those prints that never seems to go out of style, but always feel like a little bit of a throwback. Especially when you add on these bell sleeves! Bell sleeves have been so on trend this season, and I couldn't resist this dress when I noticed that detail!

From dresses, to a crop top, blouses, and even pajamas, I've rounded up 12 of my favorite polka dot pieces below!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

A 48 Hour Guide to the Big Apple

Two weeks ago, we were in New York City for a quick weekend getaway, and we had the best time!

Although we were delayed by several hours on the way there (remember the huge rainstorms that were hitting the East coast?), we definitely made the most out of our two days there!

We got in at around 8pm on Friday (we were supposed to get in at 4!!!), and checked into our hotel, the The Michelangelo. The Michelangelo is our favorite hotel in NYC, and we stay there every time we visit. It's located in Midtown (on the corner of 51st and 7th Avenue), which makes it easy to hop over to see a Broadway show, shop along Fifth Ave, visit Rockefeller Center, and dine at some of the best restaurants nearby in Hell's Kitchen.

The hotel has a great, quaint lobby bar, which is where we started our {late} Friday night. From there we went to Il Melograno for dinner. They're known for their homemade pasta, and the food was so delicious. The atmosphere was romantic and cozy, and the burrata, pappardelle and ravioli are a must try! One of our other favorite little Italian spots is Erminia, which is a great early dinner spot after spending the day at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka the Met).

On Saturday we slept in and headed to Toloache for brunch. We literally can never get enough Mexican food (hello, we're Texans haha), so fueling for the day at this hip spot was a no brainer. Our favorite part of the meal - their 'Frutas Guacamole,' which has avocados, Vidalia onions, mango, apple, habanero, thai basil in it, and is topped with pomegranate seeds. SO good!

After a margarita or two, we set off to do some shopping along Fifth Avenue. My favorite, must visit store along this stretch is definitely Bergdorf Goodman. Be sure to stop and look at their awe inspiring window displays, and give your feet a rest at the luxurious BG Restaurant - very 'ladies who lunch.' The stunning Central Park views can't be beat either. From there we went and shopped along Madison Ave, stopping at Goyard to buy a new handbag (eek so exciting), and at Laduree for my favorite macarons.

From there we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner before we saw a show that evening. We went to the Quality Meats for a delicious steak dinner (the best), and then headed to the newly re-opened Hudson Theater. We saw Sunday's in the Park with George, starring Jake Gyllenhaal .... and we were in the second row (!!!!). It was so amazing, and I tried not to be a total fan girl. Seeing shows while in New York is my absolute favorite thing to do. With so many big Broadway musicals, to small, kitschy off-Broadway shows, there's always something to choose from that everyone will like.

Sunday we started out the morning at Alfie's, where we had the most delicious brunch, which consisted of homemade donuts stuffed with raspberry jam and nutella. Mmmhmm. Afterwards, we set off for Central Park, where we walked around, and then rented a rowboat to go around the lake (a tradition for us - so romantic). After that, we hopped on the subway and walked through SoHo, Little Italy, and Chinatown. Adam surprised me by ending our walk in Foley Square - the backdrop for all the courthouse scenes from Law & Order!! If you know me, you know I'm a L&O SVU addict, so I was going crazy!!

After snapping some pics, we hopped in an Uber and headed back to the hotel. I swear, I thought my legs were going to fall off from so much walking, but that's what I love best about NYC is being able to walk everywhere. We had dinner that night at Taboon - hands down the best meal of our trip. The house made focaccia with a trio of sauces, and the shishito peppers were out of this world. Followed up with the ricotta gnocchi and Tunisian short ribs, and our stomachs were in heaven!

The next day I was on my way back home after eating, shopping, walking and enjoying every minute of my short stint in the Big Apple. Although I've been to New York City countless times, I feel like I'm always discovering something new each time. I definitely am no expert, but wanted to share some of our favorite things to do with you, and would love to hear yours!
