Friday's Thrifty Finds - Volume 1: Summer Ready Accessories Under $50

TGIF, everyone!

Today I'm unveiling a new weekly addition to the blog - Friday's Thrifty Finds! Friday's Thrifty Finds (FTF) will feature my favorite things of the moment, that are all under $100 or less (hopefully less, who are we kidding?!).

Featured items will range from accessories, to clothing, make-up, decor, shoes, books, must-have products, and even food/restaurants - you name it, you'll see it here. One of the reasons I wanted to start FTF was because when I first started this blog, it was rooted in showing every woman out there how to mix high end items, with budget friendly finds. Seamlessly merging the two doesn't have to just stop with fashion - I incorporate high/low into every aspect of my life.

I also thought it was important to share with you a lot of the items that I love that don't necessarily get "face time" on the blog.We all have that favorite over-sized shirt, blanket, throw pillow, lotion, perfume, snack, or drug store beauty buy, that just doesn't make sense to talk about. Well, throw out that notion because here anything is game! haha.

I would love to hear some of the things that you would like to see, and hope you enjoy the debut of Friday's Thrifty Finds - Volume 1: Summer Ready Accessories Under $50

Go-To Midi Black Dress

Dress | Scarf (similar style here and here) | Purse (back in stock - order soon!!!!) | Hat | Sandals (similar style here and here) | Cuff (similar style) | Earrings

Although I wish I dressed like I stepped out of a blog post everyday, most days you'll find me more on the casual side (unless I have an event to go to, or I'm meeting a client, then I definitely will be more dressed up). One of the outfits I wear at least once a week (or maybe two) is this midi-black dress.

This dress runs TTS (true to size - I'm wearing an XS), and quickly became one of my go-to's after I purchased it last year for our trip to Spain. Whether I'm packing it in my suitcase, wearing it on the plane, or running around town doing errands, it is the perfect mix of effortless and chic. Like with any plain black dress, there are endless possibilities on how you can wear it, not to mention it's simple to dress up or down. It also comes in 10 different colors and is under $100 - I'll take one of each, please!!

With the popularity of silk neck scarfs right now, I brought out this Burberry scarf I got in high school, and it gave me all the flight attendant feels. Haha. I wasn't able to track it down online, but I did find this great one that comes in tons of patterns, colors, and is only $10.99!

And, big news, the 'It Bag' of summer (remember I talked about it in this post), is back in stock again! Definitely order it while you can!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Hi ladies! Happy hump day!

I was finishing up this post Monday, right before I was getting ready to tune into Bachelorette. When I realized my show wasn't on (thanks a lot NBA Finals), I was so beside myself, that I forgot to publish it! Haha! #firstworldproblems. I know, I know, but like a lot of people, I look forward to the two hours of outrageous, silly drama as a chance to zone out, laugh and decompress!

Then, there's all the Bachelor in Paradise drama going on! Ugh! If you're not part of "Bachelor Nation," or don't tune into entertainment news, here's the 411. Bachelor in Paradise is a show that is filmed in some tropical place (this season it was scheduled to be in Mexico), and follows along contestants that were previously on the Bachelor or Bachelorette. Which means, there's a lot more drama, hook ups, tears, villains, alliances, backstabbing, etc. Well, the fourth season just began filming last week, and was abruptly canceled a few days ago due to claims of 'sexual misconduct' on set. All the contestants were sent home, and now there is a lot of he said, she said, they said going on, topped off with a plethora of speculation. We shall see...

Now, about my outfit! Nothing quite says summer like a simple pair of blue jean shorts! But when it comes to shorts, I often find that they're either too short, too tight, and hit at the most unflattering part of the thigh, or that they're long bermuda shorts that make me feel like I should be on the golf course. Year after year, store after store, I am faced with this dilemma, until now.

Behold the perfect jean shorts from Banana Republic. These can be rolled up or worn long, which is perfect for creating multiple looks. They are 98% cotton and 2% spandex, giving them the perfect amount of wiggle room, as well as creating a more comfortable fit. They're on sale now for only $33.90 and fit TTS (I am wearing a size 0). They also come in white, and are currently available in all sizes.

Ten Must Have Little White Dresses for Summer (All Under $60)!

Dress (only available in two sizes - similar style here & here) | Wedges | Clutch (similar style here & here - both under $40!) | Necklace | Cuff | Earrings | Sunglasses

Happy Wednesday! I hope you've been having a great week so far!

I left rainy Houston on Monday to head back home to Wisconsin for some family time. I love retreating to the Midwest for a little break from life. It is the perfect time to rest, relax, reset and leave feeling refreshed. Since getting here, the weather has been absolute perfection, so I am soaking it all in.

On the agenda today. finishing my book, The Aviators Wife. This is the third book I have read by Melanie Benjamin and I highly recommend her novels. They're historical fiction, which makes for a great summer read. Although summer is one of the busiest times of year, I always love to catch up on the stack of books on my nightstand. Up next, Beautiful Ruins. Have you read it?

One of my other summer must do's - purchasing the perfect little white dress. We all know about the LBD, and this is her season friendly sister! Ha! Dressed up or down, white dresses go with everything and feel effortlessly chic and ethereal. Plus, they show off your tan! No one can argue with that. Even better? I've rounded up ten of my favorites that are all under $60!

Summer Staycation at the New Four Seasons Hotel Houston

Last weekend we checked into the "new" Four Seasons Hotel Houston for a little staycation. The downtown hotel recently got a Texas sized face lift, and from the moment you walk in the door, it is five star luxury at its finest.

With gorgeous white marble walls, accented perfectly with modern decor, it is the epitome of chic and effortless. I loved the mix of leather, velvet and metal in the furniture, and couldn't help but think it felt very Jonathan Adler - sophisticated and edgy.

After dropping our bags off in our gorgeous two bedroom executive suite on the 18th floor, we went to check out Bayou & Bottle. Bayou & Bottle is located just off the lobby, and serves over 125 varieties of bourbons and whiskeys (you can bet that Adam was excited). Not to mention they have fantastic bar snacks - hello, Salted Texas Whiskey Caramel Corn! - along with a lunch and dinner menu, as well.

Their drink menu was full of clever and unique libations. as well as tasting flights! I tried one of their signature cocktails, the La Dona, which had tequila, carpano bianco, chareau and lime bitters in it. Oh, and did I mention that when the drink was presented to you, the waiter would caramelize the sugar cube, aka the drink was set on fire! Haha. Highly recommend.

Tucked behind Bayou & Bottle is the country's only Topgolf Swing Suite. The Topgolf Swing Suite features two state of the art simulators for expert and novice golfers alike. Adam and I enjoyed getting a chance to try it out, and we'll definitely be bringing our friends back. It really is such a fun addition to the hotel! Each suite can be reserved for up to 15 people. and you don't need to be staying at the hotel to enjoy a few rounds of golf (plus, yummy food and drinks, too)!

After enjoying our Saturday night at Bayou & Bottle, and swinging away at Topgolf, starting Sunday with brunch at Quattro was just what the doctor ordered. I have been to Quattro a few times for brunch, and I knew we were in for a treat. For several years now, Quattro has been named the Best Brunch in Houston, and it is easy to see why. With multiple food stations, with items ranging from crepes, to caviar, eggs benedict, and 'pasta your way,' it literally has something for everyone. Just be sure to come hungry!

After enjoyeing multiple trips through the brunch buffet, we retreated to the pool. As soon as we stepped outside, it was hard to believe we were still in Houston. The pool area features over-sized day beds, relaxing lounge chairs, and a bustling bar. They come around every hour to offer you unique amenities, like cucumbers for the eyes, Evian misting spray. frozen grapes, and the perfect summer treat - popsicles! Did I mention they also make their own chips and salsa in-house? You know we had to get an order...or two!

After spending the day poolside, reading and playing a few games of ping pong and cornhole, we stayed in for the night. We enjoyed room service and a movie. I'm always a big proponent of room service, even if it is indulgent;)

The Four Seasons Hotel Houston was the perfect home away from home over Memorial Day weekend. We had a great time getting to experience all the fabulous things this hotel has to offer. They also just debuted their "Summer Social Series, which features two different events - a Live Art Bar and a Summer Music Festival, which is the perfect excuse to stop by and check out the hotel. Click here for more info!

If you're planning a trip to Houston, or live here and have guests coming in from out of town, look no further than the "new" Four Seasons. You won't be disappointed!
