The Boldest Statement

Dezzal dress ℅ | BCBGeneration heels (similar style) | Elaine Turner clutch ℅ | Forever 21 sunglasses | Bauble Bar earrings ℅ | Kendra Scott bracelets

I don't know if anything has ever made me as happy as this 70's chic dress! As soon as I saw this dress on Dezzal (another unique beauty), I knew I had to have it, and it was the biggest statement maker.

There is no way that this dress can't take center stage, so it was important to add some neutral - albeit still a bit bold, - accessories.. The gold jewelry and heels added some extra oomph, while this gorgeous cork clutch added the perfect neutral hue. With the weekend upon us, this dress will be your one stop shop for now, and evenings to come.

Feminine Embellishment

Dezzal dress ℅ | Michael Kors heels (similar style) | Chanel purse (similar style) | Zayver Designs earrings & bracelet | Roberto Cavalli sunglasses (similar style)

You know the heat of summer is upon you when you have frizzy hair! After a long day of shooting, this was our second to last outfit, and by the photos, it's clear to see my hair wasn't cooperating! Growing up between Colorado and Wisconsin, I thought I knew humidity from our time in the Midwest, and boy, was I wrong when I moved to Houston! When I first arrived nearly three years ago, I found it surprising and hysterical that the evening news would had a 'frizz-o-meter,' and talked about what type of hair day you could expect this week with the weather - haha!

What I was not surprised by, was how much I adored this gorgeous, nude embellished dress. This dress (under $100) from Dezzal is definitely a statement maker, and so girly and sweet. Dezzal carries lots of great brands, as well as 'in house' designers, making for some unique finds. All the colors make it easy to mix and match lots of different accessories, so you never repeat the same look twice.

Have a great Tuesday, and see you back here soon! To follow along 24/7, be sure you join me on Instagram! xo

TGIF!

It was a wet first half of the week in Houston, with endless, crazy rain. Luckily, I headed out and arrived back home in Wisconsin on Wednesday, and I'm so happy to be reunited with my family. It is always great to see them, spend time together, and be home. After this crazy month with the move and packing/unpacking, I am definitely ready to spend some time by the pool, reading a good book, and just relaxing. It'll be great to regroup and recharge for the busy few weeks to comes.

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that we're over halfway through August. Although I'm a bit sad, I'm looking forward to fall, because it's my favorite time of year. I love all the colors, the leaves changing, and falling from the trees, Pumpkin Spice lattes, and everything fall fashion.

The Vogue September issue (aka the Bible) is almost on news stands, so let's talk about some of the of the top trends we'll be seeing this year.

Fur. Real or faux, fur is making a big statement this year, from bold colors to patterns, and prints, it is popping up everywhere.

Ruffles. From over the top, to demure, ruffles will be in every size and color.

Tan. From trench coats, to sweaters, pants, and cropped jackets, shades of beige are all the rage.

Layers. Layering is always big come fall, but we're seeing some interesting additions, including, turtlenecks under dresses, shirts and button ups under overhauls, and menswear inspired blouses under cardigans.

Metallic. Gone are the days of metallics being worn only on nights out, now we're seeing more muted metals everywhere from pleated midi-skirts, to dresses, tops, and silky jackets.

Off the shoulder. This fabulous summer trend is making its way into fall with darker colors, patterns, and rich prints.

Chockers. This trend's totally reminiscent of the 90's - everything old is new again. Whether it's a bold statement chocker, a bow tied around your neck, or a silk scarf, be sure to have something around your neck this season.

Lace. From lace applique clothing, to lace up booties and heels, lace is everywhere.

And that's just the beginning! Have a great weekend:) xo

Back to School Giveaway

It's that time of year, when summer is coming to an end, and heading back to school is just around the corner. Some of my fondest memories, whether it was in grade school, high school or college, are of back to school shopping. Always on the list: a new backpack/bag, notebooks, text books, pens, the dreaded TI+ calculators, and of course the prettiest of calendars, and obviously stickers!! Don't even get me started on how much fun I would have shopping for a new wardrobe for the year. Most importantly, the outfit I would wear on the first day back to class. You always have to make an entrance, right?

This year, back to school shopping just got that much sweeter, because I have teamed up with a group of fabulous bloggers to give one lucky winner the chance to win a Macbook Air, Kate Spade handbag, notebook, planner, and water bottle. Enter for your chance to win, and head back to school in style!

Tips on Wearing Floral Print Year Round

Chicwish dress ℅ Manolo Blahnik heels (similar style - on sale!!) | Diane von Furstenberg clutch (similar style) | Quay Australia sunglasses | Necklace (similar style) | Kendra Phillip cuff ℅ Elaine Turner earrings ℅

Happy Monday. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!

We are finally getting adjusted and settled into our new house and I couldn't be happier. Almost all the boxes are unpacked and out of the house (thank goodness!), pictures and paintings are hung, and we are just loving everything about this new adventure.

Besides the house, everything else is life has been very busy, but great. Last week I filmed a very special segment for Comcast Newsmakers which will be airing in September, as well as shot a video for a cause very near and dear to my heart - more to come later this week!

To kick start a new week, let's talk fashion. How angelic and romantic is this floral dress? Plus the $55 price tag isn't bad either (I am wearing XS/S for reference). I love the ruffles, the pink color and rich floral print. The gorgeous, off the shoulder neckline, and midi-length is a great modern silhouette, for an always popular print.

Speaking of, floral print is not just perfect for spring and summer, but we are seeing this pattern worn all year long. Here are my tips on making this look work for you, all season long:

- Keep your accessories neutral and complimentary. Nude, black or white accessories, are always a safe bet. If you're feeling a bit daring, play up the color(s) in the pattern, by matching your accessories to them. Either way, by coordinating colors, you'll create a cohesive look.

- Accentuate your figure. If you are petite, focus on wearing a smaller pattern, as you don't want to overwhelm your figure. If you're curvy, avoid too small of pattern, as it can look too dainty. If you are tall or slender, bold and small patterns work great. Know your figure, and try what works best for you. For all body types, keep in mind the placement of the pattern, because that will be the part of the body that is highlighted and focused on.

- Choose a frock that's suitable for the time of year. During fall/winter, choose darker hues and more body con pieces. Pair with a leather or jean jacket, and ankle booties. In the spring/summer, choose airy, looser silhouettes (like the dress I'm wearing or this maxi dress), and match with the perfect sun hat, over-sized tote, and wedges or sandals.

-Whether it's a shirt, pants, shoes, a scarf, or a dress, let the pattern shine with only one piece - do not create a busy look by wearing floral print everywhere.

Do you have any tips and tricks on wearing floral all year round? I would love to hear them!
