Welcome to a new week! I hope you all enjoyed the weekend.

I was online the other week doing some "research" aka online shopping at one of my favorite online retailers, Shopbop. When I got to their home page, they had a huge feature on the sweater dress, saying it was the "It" piece of the season.

Through the years, I haven't had a ton of luck with sweater dresses. Either they are too thick, making them/me look bulky, or they're too thin, so they actually don't serve the purpose of a "sweater," and actually end up being rather sheer. Recently, I have come across quite a few sweater dresses that have measured up to the name, and I definitely won't argue that they are one of the go-to pieces of the Fall/Winter season.

When people think about sweaters, I think the last word that would come to their mind is 'sexy.' Arguably, I think sweaters/sweater dresses can be just that. Sweaters are no longer the thick knits your grandmother made you, or the itchy wool blend turtlenecks that you couldn't wait to get off. Now, sweaters are very chic.

Case in point, this Carmen Marc Valvo dress that I found at Last Call (Neiman Marcus's discount store). This dress, and many others I found online, have the perfect fit - they are figure flattering without being too tight. The length is appropriate for the office, but still fun enough for a night out. Add the faux fur scarf, and you're good to go for date night. It's never too late to rethink the ordinary, and make it modern and totally you.
