Giving the Cold Shoulder & What I'm Most Looking forward to Turning 30

Happy Tuesday!

I am officially ending the last few days of my 20's - Saturday is the big day. Although I've been dreading the number, I have to admit that I'm excited to ring in the big 3-0. All of my friends are older then I am, and without a shadow of a doubt, they all agree that their 30's have been/were their favorite. Here are some of the thing they've told me, and what I'm most looking forward to!

Being more confident in who you are.
From embracing your faults, and your positive attributes, to not taking no for an answer, there's no better time to start being unapologetic for who you are.

Creating strong and lasting relationships.
You'll have fewer friends, but that's because you've gotten rid of all the acquaintances or those friends that weren't adding to you life, and instead formed strong, lifelong relationships.

Finding your niche.
Whether that's work, philanthropy, sports or a hobby, you'll truly give what you love your all, and enjoy every minute of it.

Making plans for the future.
From travel plans, to career goals, getting married and having kids, there's not time like the present to make a plan.

Being older and wiser.
This makes me laugh because I remember how smart I thought I was when I was in college, and boy, I knew nothing. With each year comes life lessons, and I'm looking forward to becoming that much smarter.

 Enjoying financial stability.
All that hard word pays off, and although mom and dad aren't paying for you anymore, there's nothing more liberating then knowing you earned it. Start saving and investing, not to mention your 401(k)

Family first.
I've always believed that blood is thicker than water. With every passing year, you, your siblings and your parents are getting older, so nothing's more important than snatching up any and all opportunities to be with them.

I'd love to hear things you've learned, or are looking forward to with every passing year! Until next time!

Sequins with the Fur + A Personal Look Back at 2016

Vintage top from Cheeky Vintage (similar style here, here, and here) | Leggings | Shoes (on sale!!) | Earrings (sold out, similar style) | Sunglasses

"And now, I'm trying to change the world, one sequin at a time." Lady Gaga

From Tuesday's blog post, to my Instagram, shiny, glittery things have definitely been on my mind! I don't know if I'm compensating for the dreary, rainy weather we're having, or the fact that my birthday is at the end of this month, but I've been in the mood to sparkle

2016 was truly a sparkly year for me. Even though reflection and New Year's resolutions are over, I wanted to share with you a bit about the last year. which was also the last year of  my 20's (yes, I'll be 30 next month, but shhh don't tell).

2016 was, up until now, the best year of my life. Whether it was personal or professional triumphs, to self realization, or owning a home, I felt like I really became my most authentic self. I started to finally feel like I 'belonged' here in Houston.

New friends came into my life that are now best friends, some friends left, and it was for the better. The blog took on a life of its own, which brought new, amazing business opportunities my way. I also finally opened up about my nearly four year journey battling arthritis, which was one of the most raw and freeing things I've ever done.

I was so anxious leading up to 2017, because I consider myself a realist (vs pessimistic or optimist), and I was nervous that this year would not be as great as the last. Sometimes I get in my head and think too much and wonder, "Ok, all these amazing things are happening, something bad is bound to happen." or "Life is going perfectly, when's the dream going to stop?" Then I took a deep breath and snapped out of it! Life is what you make of it, and I wholeheartedly believe that. So here's to 2017, a year of endless possibilities and an opportunity to shine brightly.

How to Add Sequins into Your Everyday Life

Dress (similar style and on sale!!!) | Shoes | Clutch | Bracelets (similar style) | Earrings ℅ | Sunglasses

Happy Tuesday!

Who else tuned into The Bachelor last night? I don't know whether it's the drama, the tears, or the jet setting, but I've been a huge fan of the show for years. Who's with me (#bachelornation)? When I first heard that Nick was going to be the Bachelor, I was like, "Yawn." After three times, give up already! But to be honest, I've actually enjoyed his season so far, and he seems less vileness then in years past. I think my favorite part is the unrealistic date nights - I mean, who wouldn't want to be whisked away on a helicopter or have lunch on a yacht.

With date night on the mind, I'm sharing this cute little number that I actually wore for New Years Eve this year. The midi length was perfect for ringing in 2017 in the Dominican Republic. The silhouette was the perfect mix of fancy and casual for our beach side celebration. Would you believe that this dress used to be my mom's? And it's still totally on trend.

When the holidays approach, all of us ladies gravitate towards sequins and shiny things. But, sequins don't have to be saved just for the holidays! Here are some easy ways to bring a bit of sparkle into your everyday life!

Sequin shirts and blazers
Add a little pep to your favorite go-to outfit, when you swap your simple pieces for one with more sparkle.

Skirts and pants
Don't fret that this look is too much for the office, just be sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple and classic. Think about topping these glitzy pieces with a white blouse or button up.

Accessories
Still unsure you can pull off all the glitz and glam? Start out simple with these full-proof glam accessories.

Chevron X Floral

Happy Wednesday and Happy New Years! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating this festive time of year.

I took a brief hiatus over the holidays as everything was go, go, go, and there wasn't any extra time to breathe (we all know how it goes this time of year). We were up in Dallas with Adam's family for Christmas, and then we headed to the Dominican Republic for a much need vacation over the new year.

We were on our trip for ten days, and both made a conscious decision to not work on the trip, but instead focus on rest, relaxation, reading and just enjoying 1-1 time. It was perfect, and just what the doctor ordered. I read three books, ate the most delicious food, and enjoyed a margarita or two, plus, daily walks on the beach. We just got back this past weekend, so I'm in the midst of playing a lot of catch up. Definitely expect a travel summery on our trip soon!

Before the holidays, I hosted a shopping party at one of my favorite boutiques, Trina Turk. I have long been a fan of the brand. From the bold prints and patterns, to bright colors, what's not to love. When I saw this gorgeous tweed jacket, which is made in France, I knew I had to have it. It also has the cutest fringe shorts that match, which I purchased too. The entire matchy matchy ensemble will be perfect for spring. But while winter is still here, and the temps are cooler, I paired it with these dark jeans that play up the navy hue in the jacket. You could also pair the top and jacket with winter white pants, or a cute pencil skirt. Perfect for casual Friday or a night out.

Be sure to check out all the fun, resort ready pieces from Trina Turk. Right now, all of their sale items are an additional 20% off. I've linked some of my favorite things below!
