2019 Arthritis Foundation Bone Bash

Happy Halloween, witches! What better way to celebrate my favorite holiday than with a recap of this year's Bone Bash Gala benefiting the Arthritis Foundation! The event took place last Saturday, and raises money to fund research aimed at helping the more than 52 million Americans impacted by arthritis. I am thrilled to say that we made over $400,000, and that Houston is officially the #1 Bone Bash in the nation! Wooohooo!

With a sold out crowd of 600 attendees, the night was surely one to remember. The theme this year was Moulin Rouge, and everyone came dressed to impress. There were so many good costumes, and I couldn't wait to show mine off, of course! I love a good theme party, and when it comes to the Bone Bash, I always try to do it bigger and better each year. My friend and designer, David Peck, helped me create the perfect outfit for the event. You may remember David custom made my Bone Bash costume last year, as well as my wedding dress! In case you're wondering how long I left me hefty headpiece on for, the answer is all night! I even added twinkling lights to the Eiffel Tower, so it would have the full effect.

For those of you that may be new around here, my involvement with the organization is a personal one. I suffered from arthritis as a child before going into remission at the age of 12, and was rediagnosed as an adult in 2013. I moved to Houston shortly after being diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, and have been involved with the Arthritis Foundation and the Bone Bash for the last six years. I loved getting to be a part of the committee again this year. I Chaired the event last year, and prior to that I was the Co-Chair and Youth Honoree. Clearly I love the event! When we started planning the event this year, we definitely wanted to grow it and raise more money than last year. That being said, I never imaged our event would have such an incredible turnout and raise so much money. I can't wait to see the continued success of this event!

Gearing Up for the Holidays

Dress (similar style also here & here) | Purse (real version here) | Earrings | Bracelets | Heels | Sunglasses

With the start of November only a week away, holiday season is about to be in full swing. Before all the chaos begins, I figured I would start sharing some fun, festive outfits with you.

Whether you're playing hostess, or visiting family and friends for the holidays, this dress is a great go to. The paisley pattern is winter ready, not to mention the color scheme is perfect for 'the most wonderful time of year.'  It also comes in a darling v-neck bell sleeve style, as well as a sleeveless mock-turtleneck version.

When buying or choosing outfits for the holidays, I always pick something that I can wear several different ways. This dress would look great dressed up or down, giving you the option to wear it multiple times during the winter season. I also like to focus on something that travels well, since majority of us are hitting the road or the friendly (or not so friendly) skies. Part of the reason I chose this dress from Jude Connally (my favorite), is because it's made from their signature material 'Jude Cloth.' The material is super soft, but more importantly it folds into nothing, doesn't wrinkle, and is machine washable. It's also universally flattering on all body types. Added bonus: the silhouette leaves a little wiggle room, which is a must for all that turkey and eggnog you're going to have.
