Shades of Polka Dots

Old Navy dress | Manolo Blahnik cork sandal {previous season, similar style} | Tory Burch clutch | Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses | Lulu's necklace {similar style

Was it me, or did the weekend fly by way too quickly? I hope whatever you did for the Fourth of July, that you had a fabulous time. We jetted off to Napa Valley last minute to visit some friends, and of course, do some wine tasting!

This high-low dress from Old Navy (another steal!) was the perfect outfit to bring with me on this quick trip. I know I've mentioned it before, but when I travel I always bring outfits with me that can take me day to night. By doing this, packing is simplified, and I definitely believe in only traveling with a carry-on. I love a good maxi dress for summer, and this one is my new favorite because the material is lightweight and flowy. Plus, I love the color and the polka dot pattern. Also, the blue and white color scheme was perfect for the holiday weekend.

I wore this with a long, daintier necklace, white sandals and a tote bag for our daytime festivities. For dinner, I transitioned the outfit into night with these kitten heel sandals, clutch and statement necklace - one dress, two completely different looks. These Manolo Blahnik sandals have been a staple in my suitcase ever since I got them two years ago. Nude goes with everything, making it easy to only bring one pair of shoes with you for evening.

Planning ahead and packing smart is definitely worth its weight in gold, because you go on vacation to enjoy being on vacation, not to worry about what to wear or that you forgot something. My best advice is to make a list of what you'll be doing before you go, so you make sure you pack everything you need - it makes my life 100 times easier.
