A Fresh Take on Red, White and Blue

Happy Friday! I hope your holiday weekend is starting off in style.

Fourth of July makes me think of boating, backyard barbecues, family time, and of course, fireworks. Like everyone I am sure, it also makes me think of the unified colors of red, white and blue. It doesn't get much more patriotic than when this trio is linked together.  For my Fourth of July outfit, I decided to be a little unexpected and steer away from some of my typical holiday outfits, and go for something fresh and different.

Growing up in small towns in Wisconsin and Colorado, to having lived in San Francisco and now Houston, I've learned that fashion in small towns versus the city, can be quite different. With San Francisco especially, I felt like it was hard to get away with a lot of casual outfits - everything was very city chic (at least in my experience). Although Houston is a big city, it definitely has that Southern, more relaxed feel.

I thought this outfit was a great way to merge both small town and city style. The white jeans and the DVF blouse are refined, but definitely still very relaxed. Change out of the heels when you're done with work and opt for a pair of sandals. Swap the jeans out for white shorts for those daytime festivities or for the BBQ.

Whatever your plans are for the holiday, I hope you have a wonderful time!
