Happy Monday. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!
We are finally getting adjusted and settled into our new house and I couldn't be happier. Almost all the boxes are unpacked and out of the house (thank goodness!), pictures and paintings are hung, and we are just loving everything about this new adventure.
Besides the house, everything else is life has been very busy, but great. Last week I filmed a very special segment for Comcast Newsmakers which will be airing in September, as well as shot a video for a cause very near and dear to my heart - more to come later this week!
To kick start a new week, let's talk fashion. How angelic and romantic is this floral dress? Plus the $55 price tag isn't bad either (I am wearing XS/S for reference). I love the ruffles, the pink color and rich floral print. The gorgeous, off the shoulder neckline, and midi-length is a great modern silhouette, for an always popular print.
Speaking of, floral print is not just perfect for spring and summer, but we are seeing this pattern worn all year long. Here are my tips on making this look work for you, all season long:
- Keep your accessories neutral and complimentary. Nude, black or white accessories, are always a safe bet. If you're feeling a bit daring, play up the color(s) in the pattern, by matching your accessories to them. Either way, by coordinating colors, you'll create a cohesive look.
- Accentuate your figure. If you are petite, focus on wearing a smaller pattern, as you don't want to overwhelm your figure. If you're curvy, avoid too small of pattern, as it can look too dainty. If you are tall or slender, bold and small patterns work great. Know your figure, and try what works best for you. For all body types, keep in mind the placement of the pattern, because that will be the part of the body that is highlighted and focused on.
- Choose a frock that's suitable for the time of year. During fall/winter, choose darker hues and more body con pieces. Pair with a leather or jean jacket, and ankle booties. In the spring/summer, choose airy, looser silhouettes (like the dress I'm wearing or this maxi dress), and match with the perfect sun hat, over-sized tote, and wedges or sandals.
-Whether it's a shirt, pants, shoes, a scarf, or a dress, let the pattern shine with only one piece - do not create a busy look by wearing floral print everywhere.
Do you have any tips and tricks on wearing floral all year round? I would love to hear them!
