Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress | Elaine Turner cork heels | Balenciaga Classic Mini purse | Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses | Walmart statement necklace (only $5!!!)
Happy hump day!
How fun and evocative of the '70's is this darling DVF dress. I love so many different brand names and designers, but I have to admit, nothing makes me feel more feminine and put together quite like Diane von Furstenberg's clothing does - she is a true woman's woman.
After reading her book, 'The Woman I Wanted To Be,' late last year, it was remarkable how forward thinking Diane von Furstenberg was at such a young age, and how unapologetic she has always been for being herself and more importantly, a woman. In the book and in countless interviews as well, there's nothing she likes more than empowering women, and believes that a woman can do everything a man does...but in a dress! :)
This dress is based off her iconic wrap dress that catapulted her to fame in the late '70's. This style is called the "New Yahzi" and comes in a multitude of colors and patterns. What makes this different from its counterpart, is that it is sleeveless and doesn't have a collar, making it more young and modern.
I topped off the dress with this fantastic statement necklace from Walmart. Yes, Walmart! Never underestimate what you'll find when you go there. For the cost (only $5!) I expected to get a few wears out of it before the stones started to fall out, but I have been pleasantly surprised after wearing it at least a dozen times, that it is really well made! Since then, I have been back and purchased three more necklaces - it doesn't have to be expensive to look good!
